D.1. General Information about Program

Neuroscience Master's program with thesis will be opened within Hacettepe University Institute of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry, Department of Neurological and Psychiatric Basic Sciences. Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, Department of Psychology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and Faculty of Health Sciences will benefit from the program. 

This proposed program is planned to provide academically oriented interdisciplinary education aiming to provide the post-graduate scientific formation needed in the field of neuroscience, which is among the priority science fields in the world and in our country. It aims to develop knowledge and skills in areas of basic and applied neuroscience that require specialized and advanced training. The aim of the program is to ensure the academic development of the candidates in the specialized areas of Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences and to provide a steppingstone to PhD programs that they can continue later in their academic life. Rapid developments in Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences have led to an intense demand for the training of researchers who will closely follow and apply these innovations. Although there are similar programs in the field of `neuroscience? in some cities in our country (Istanbul (8), Izmir (2), Eskişehir (1), Konya (1), Kocaeli (1), Ankara (2)), there are only two universities in Ankara, one of which is a foundation university, and the other is a state university. In this respect, the program to be opened will fill the gap in Ankara and the surrounding provinces. Through this program, our institute will contribute to meeting the intense national and international demand in the field of neuroscience. The Institute of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry, which is one of the most preferred institutes in the field of neuroscience in our country, has the academic staff, knowledge, and laboratory infrastructure to meet the requirements of the Neuroscience Master's Program with Thesis. 

The vision of the program is to be a pioneer in the development of the field of neuroscience in our country and to award an internationally recognized master?s degree Neuroscience with Thesis.

The mission of the program is to raise researchers who will contribute to universal science and humanity by conducting multidisciplinary research on how the central nervous system works under physiological conditions and how it responds to pathological conditions.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, Department of Psychology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation or Faculty of Health Sciences will benefit from the program. For applications from other departments, it is required to be approved by the Board of Directors of the Institute of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry. 

To have ALES (SAY/EA) score type and Foreign Language base score determined by the Health Sciences Institute Board and approved by the Hacettepe University Senate

To meet the application requirements of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations and Institute of Health Sciences.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student must meet the conditions specified in Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations*. Other requirements:

A master's degree diploma is given to a graduate student who successfully completes all the courses required to be taken in this program for a total of 120 ECTS credits, completes the thesis study and is found sufficient in the thesis defense exam and fulfils the Graduate Education Graduation Requirements of H.U. Institute of Health Sciences.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The academic recognition of the previous education of students who have studied at another university is carried out according to the relevant regulations. This recognition process is determined by the decision of the institute board of directors based on the duration and content of the student's previous education.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The aim of the program is to support the academic development of the candidates in the specialized fields of Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences and to provide a steppingstone to PhD programs that they can continue later in their academic life. Rapid developments in Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences have led to an intense demand for the training of researchers who will closely follow and apply these innovations. D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Those who successfully complete Neuroscience Master's Program are entitled to receive the master?s degree in Neuroscience. Graduates can start their business life in public and private sector organizations and can continue their academic studies in doctoral programs of both domestic and foreign educational institutions, so they are candidates for an academic career. In the private sector, they can work as scientific experts in organizations operating in the field of neuroscience.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

This program consists of at least seven courses, a seminar course and a thesis study, provided that it is not less than the credits required by the Regulations on Graduate Education and Training of Higher Education Institutions and the Regulations on Graduate Education and Training of H.U. Graduate Education and Training Regulations for the master's program with thesis in order to enable the Master's degree students to gain the competence of accessing, compiling, interpreting and evaluating information by using scientific research methods.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the Course Teaching Plan prepared by the relevant faculty member/members and included in the Information Package. Regarding exams and course grades, the relevant articles of the H.U. Graduate Education and Examination Regulations are applied.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

For a student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the master's program with thesis to graduate, he/she must submit the information and documents required by the relevant articles of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Training Regulations to the Institute of Health Sciences.
