D.1. General Information about Program

Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory String Instruments Art Proficiency Programme was initiated in 1994-1995 Academic year. The establishent of Department occured within the Science Institute of Hacettepe University (1985-1995), in Social Sciences Institute (1995-2012) then in Graduate School of Fine Arts (since 2012). This assumes the title of the first String Instruments On Degree Program in our country.

Strings Department keeps training artists and educators to national and international music and educational institutes by providing training with modern methods and techniques through the whole of sub disciplines of string instruments with Doctor of Music program.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

It is required to be a master?s degree graduate for being accepted to this program. The candidates are accepted to this program through an audition which offers a specific repertoire given by the Department.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from the Doctor of Music in Strings Program, the total credit required to be achieved apart from the mutual compulsory courses is 27, and the total ECTS credit is 240.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The objective of String Instruments Post graduate Program is to educate String instrument players who has the knowledge, skills and hardware to be assigned in art and musical educational institutions that take place within the national and international framework, who can render the historical development of his/her field in accordance with the period by absorbing it, who reached a unique aesthetical taste within his/her music appreciation, who keep tabs on the updated developments, who is able to reach to a level in order for contributing to the developments within the field through his/her studies.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Those graduated from our program have the employment opportunities as a player in orchestra or vocal in state and private orchestras (symphony, opera, academic orchestras and chamber orchestras of universities); as an Academician in State and Private Conservatories; as a group member in financed chamber music groups; all of which operates in land or in foreign countries

D.14. Profile of the Programme

On this program; local credits are not less than 27 in total and 240 ECTS credits at total, are required to be taken. The courses of the program are as per semester, and there are no preconditioned course. Besides defending a Thesis, student has to give two recitals in order to gradute from the Program.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Measuring and evaluating methods performed for each course are defined on the “Educational Plan” which takes place on Information on Degree Programme, prepared by the instructor. The conditions stated on the related articles of Hacettepe University Post Graduate Education and Exam Regulation are valid concerning the exams and grades.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

Besides the conditions stated on the articles of Hacettepe University Higher Education Credo are performed, the students have to achieve minimum 27 local credits; total 240 ECTS credits. They also have to perform two recitals and defend a Thesis.
