D.1. General Information about Program

Ecology Master of Science program is held by academics staff of Ecology Section in Department of Biology. Within the context of Ecology Master of Science program, theoretical and practical researches on population and community ecology, bio-ecology and control of vector and pest animals, entomopathogene nematodes, development of resistance against pesticides and plant-derived biopesticides, molecular taxonomy, fire ecology, forest succession, mammalian ecology, parasite ecology, vector-borne viruses, ecological speciation and phylogeography, biological diversity and conservation, ecological modelling, and ecosystem planning and management are conducted. The context of the courses in Ecology Master of Science program are formed through the research subjects mentioned above. The students in the program graduated with abilities to conduct an independent research, and with knowledge on the up-to-date scientific literature on these subjects.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Master's degree program, not less than 24 credits, consists of special topics course and the study of thesis. According to the European Credit Transfer System, not less than a total of 60 ECTS of the courses and not less than 60 ECTS credits for thesis study, by completing the special topics course, which includes thesis study and successfully complete thesis study. D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

With the inclusion of graduate courses, which were taken as a special student of a student, graduate courses, which were taken before the enrollment in the institute in the last five years, from domestic/international higher education institutions can be transferred to program, the student is enrolled, according the advisor opinion, recommendation of the board of the department and decision of board of institute. However, more than 2/3 of the total credit a student enrollment of program is not considered to transfer of credits of graduates courses as special student. D.7. Goals and Objectives

The purpose of Ecology Master of Science program is to educate science experts who are;

- Being knowledgeable on the up-to-date ecology and environmental sciences scientific literature,

- Sensitive to environmental problems and being able to examine these problems with a ecological point of view,

- Being able to view the biological phenomena multi-dimensionally,

- Being able to conduct scientific research independently on ecology, evolution and environmental biology.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The students graduated from Ecology Master of Science program are able to work as research assistant or academician in universities, as specialist biologist in ministries and other governmental bodies, as ecologist in research and management projects related to nature conservation and natural environment that are supported by governmental bodies or private sector.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

MSc program contains 4 semester. Students need at least 120 ECTS and a MSc thesis in order to graduate from the program.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

A student, who successfully completed to compulsory courses of the program (at least 60 ECTS credits) and has academic average at least 2.75, presents thesis/art work at the end of the second semester. After the succesful thesis defence, the student graduates from program.
