D.1. General Information about Program

The candidates with a postgraduate diploma of Education, Communication, Science and Literature, and Literature are to be received into French Language Teaching Master Program of Foreign Language Education attached to School of Social Sciences. The candidates have to meet the standard of minimum 2,5 out of 4,00 as a GPA score to apply for the Master Program. Additionally, the candidates have to meet the requirements of ALES (Academic Personal and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) and foreign language score set by Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Social Sciences (Look at: H.U Graduate Education and Exam Regulations). The exam for graduate program is done as an interview. The language of the program is French.

French Language Teaching Master Program of Foreign Language Education consists of two stages that are ‘taking courses' and ‘thesis study'. The students are to be successful from the courses of totally at least 24 credits, being 12 credits for the first two semesters. The students are to prepare ‘master thesis' under the supervision of an advisor after the third semester (Look at: H.U Graduate Education and Exam Regulations). The thesis is written in French. The students whose master theses are examined and later accepted by the jury, and who are good at oral examination done by the same jury are awarded with the diploma of ‘French Language Teaching Specialist' by the School of Social Sciences.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

It is required to have a graduate diploma from the Faculties of Education, Communication, Science and Literature, and Literature or an equivalance to apply for the French Language Teaching Master Program.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

It is required to have completed 120 ECTS credits, and to have successfully passed thesis defense to get a master's degree in French Language Teaching.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Students enrolling for the Master program of French Language Teaching are those who have the diploma of graduate degree in the Faculties of Education, Communication, Science and Literature, and Literature or an equivalent diploma.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

To raise individuals who are sensitive to human, society and moral values, respectful to themselves and their around, qualified in the profession; after life-long learning, internalizing scientific- and critical-thinking; associating contemporary foreign language teaching methods with linguistics; able to create new ideas with the use of abstraction, analysis and synthesis methods, and do scientific researches.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduate students of master degree can work at various state and private sectors and ‘Foreign Affairs and European Union' departments of some Ministries besides secondary schools and academic institutions.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Master program at French Language Teaching takes 2 years with 2 semesters courses and 2 semesters thesis (For more information, look at: Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exam Regulations).

All the elective courses are given by the department.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Assessment and Evaluation methods used in the classes are given in Curriculum in Package of Courses. As to the exams and pass marks, related clauses of ‘Hacettepe University Graduate Program Exam Regulations' are followed.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

In order to gradue from French Language Teaching Master Program, completing at least 24-credits successfully with the condition of getting 12 credits for the first two semesters, having GPA of at least 2,75 out of 4,00, and succeding in Master Thesis Defence.
