Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine Department Doctorate Program has been continuing education in Hacettepe University, Institute of Graduate Studies in Science since 2007-2008 Fall Term. Today, nanotechnology and nanomedicine are among the hottest scientific areas. Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine Department is an interdisciplinary graduate program supported from 5 different faculties including Faculty of Science Faculty of Engineering , Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy at Hacettepe University. Students can take their courses according to their research interest and prepare their thesis in the supervision of a faculty member who has expertise in the field.

The graduate program consists of courses, Ph.D. qualification exam, thesis proposal, thesis work and dissertation defense exam in accordance with Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations (http://www.fenbilimleri.hacettepe.edu.tr/file/yonetmelik/hulisansustuogrvesinavyonetmelik.pdf).

According to the European Credit Transfer System for graduation from the program, 120 credits of course work and 120 credits of thesis courses must be taken for a total of 240 ECTS. For graduation from the program, 36 national credits should be gained in addition to the Ph. D. qualification exam and Ph.D. Thesis.

1 ECTS credit is equivalent to 30 hours of workload.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The recognition of prior learning of a student in a domestic or a foreign higher education institution is applied in accordance with the related regulations. The recognition of prior learning of a student in another university for a period of time is determined by the decision of the Academic Council.

The aim of the program was determined as to train individuals specializing in the field of nanotechnology and nanomedicine who can contribute to the scientific and economic development of our country and all of humanity, to carry out top-level multidisciplinary research, to produce advanced technologies and cutting-edge materials and systems, to disseminate the information in national and international levels, to create a national and international networks in the field of nanotechnology and nanomedicine (meetings, joint research, exchange information etc.), to increase the collaboration in research, capacity and diversity in the field of nanotechnology & nanomedicine.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates from nanotechnology and nanomedicine division Ph.D. program including pure science, engineering and health sciences, can find employment opportunities in different sectors due to the multidisciplinary character of the program. They may actively work as experts, managers and researchers at various indusrial areas (biology, chemistry, physics, electronics and medicine etc.), research and development laboratories, research centers and production and quality control areas. The graduates can also work in the universities and different research institutes and laboratories as academician or researcher. They may also apply to the post-doctoral programs in the national universities and abroad.

Profile of the program was also explained in the qualification requirements and regulations section. NNT739-Advances in Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine I, NNT740  Advances in Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine II and NNT745 Ph. D. Seminar courses are must courses.  All remaining courses are elective. Other elective courses from an another division in Institute of Graduate Studies in Science should not be exceeded  1/3 of the total course credits. The elective courses are chosen by considering  advice of  supervisor of  Ph.D. thesis. Thesis subject can be envisioned  by considering the recent tendencies in nanotechnology and nanomedicine,  as well as relying on the new technological advances, trends and innovative approaches and to bring a solution for the industrial problems. Thesis work can be based on an experimental and theoretical study.

The evaluation and assessment methods for each course prepared by the faculty member(s) and the relevant information are included in the package called "Course Teaching Plan". Exams and grades/success evaluations of courses are applied according to the HU Postgraduate Degree Education and Examination Regulations.
