D.4. Provisions for Registration

Graduating from internal medicine nursing master's program or nursing graduate programs including internal medicine nursing courses.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The education period of the Doctorate Program is eight semesters. Program; consists of compulsory and elective courses and a qualifying exam, thesis proposal, thesis presentation and thesis defense. In order to be successful in program courses, the grade received from the courses must be at least 75 out of 100. The advisor and the relevant institute can be selected from the courses offered in other higher education institutions with the recommendation of the head of the department and the approval of the Institute Board of Directors. Students who successfully complete their courses are taken to the proficiency exam. If student is successful in this exam, she/he presents the thesis proposal to the jury. The student verbally presents the progress and results of his thesis to the thesis monitoring committee every six months. The student has to write the results obtained regarding the thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the relevant institute and defend the thesis verbally to the jury. After the completion of the thesis exam, the jury decides on the thesis by absolute majority, acceptance, rejection or correction. The student whose thesis is decided to be corrected defends the thesis again with the same jury within six months at the maximum. 

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Prior learning is regulated by Articles 12 and 49 of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations.

Nursing baccalaurate graduates who has completed nursing,  internal medicine nursing  master programs and whose conditions  are accepted by the Academic Board of Department in the  condition of completing  their missing courses are accepted for the program.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

This program aims to train specialist nurses who deepens advanced and current theoretical medical nursing knowledge in an expert level with conducting original, unique and independent, innovative and systematic studies and original ideas, insights multidisciplinary-interdisciplinary team interactions, leads health team, supports the development of scientific, cultural and ethical values, uses high level mental processes such as creative and critical thinking and develops original and new ideas, concept and methods special to the field, , publishes his/her work in national/international peer-reviewed journal, shares, discusses and presents systematically his/her work, uses internal education-training and care technologies, advocates own and original ideas among professional discussion sessions, analysis, criticizes, develops, contributes and originates the issue, uses medical nursing knowledge and developments on increasing the quality of life of all individuals living in society, protecting and promoting community health.

In order to determine Internal Medicine Nursing PhD degree graduates? opinions on the training, we conducted a study. We reached four graduates in this study .

• Have adequate information in the field
• Plan and implementation patient care using the theoretical knowledge
• Know the ethical principles of nursing and while conducting the researches, and exhibit ethical behaviors

• Define the current health problems
• Conduct the team work
• Have the problem solving skills

Our graduates reported the differences from other university graduates as; 

• Take courses that rich content with a strong teaching staff
• Be more practical and selective while searching and achieving sources of information
• Gain ability of synthesizing, distinguishing, summarizing and presenting the information
• Think critically. 

D.13. Access to Further Studies

D.14. Profile of the Programme

The rate of doctoral program of compulsory  courses to elective courses is (27%). 

If it is necessary or if student requests, student can take more  courses (credit) than minumum credit in both programs. Still,  if it is necessary or if student requests, student can choose (5%)  courses from  different  faculties / departments of our university, in this way, the courses that taken can be used to complete the minumum credit. For graduation;  in Master degree  minimum of 120 ECTS; in Doctoral program  minimum of 240 ECTS must be completed.

In Doctoral program, student can take the minimum credit that is required to take, by extending over the first 3 semesters  at will. In this program, if the student passes competency exam, he/she  starts the thesis from the 5. Semester.

 All of the courses in the Master degree and Doctoral programs are semester (seasonal) courses.

The student can re-enroll for the courses that he / she has failed, or take other graduate courses approved by his / her advisor. In addition, the advisor and the relevant institute can be selected from the courses offered in other higher education institutions with the recommendation of the head of the department and the approval of the Institute Board of Directors. Students who successfully complete their courses are taken to the proficiency exam. If the student is successful in this exam, she/he presents the thesis proposal the jury. The student verbally presents the progress and results of his thesis to the thesis monitoring committee for six months.
