D.1. General Information about Program

Computer Education and Instructional Technology Masters Program is a two-year program (4 semesters) with thesis handled by the Institute of Educational Sciences. Opened in 13 June 2001, the program had its first graduates in 2004. Meeting the requirement of human resource qualified in the field of instructional technologies and distance education; training academic personnel for the undergraduate programs of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department opened by The Council of Higher Education; training specialist in the fields of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies for the public or private sector and making research and publications for the scientific development of this field could be ranked among the main purposes of graduate program . the basic research topics of this program are; e-learning, diffusion and integration of information and communication technologies into education, constructivist instructional design and assessment models, educational computer games, online learning, technology policies, multimedia design, usability and human computer interaction, cognitive processes and reflection to e-learning environments.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

Candidates holding a bachelor's degree can apply.

Application, admission and registration procedures for master program of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies (CEIT) are executed in accordance with respective items of “Hacettepe University graduate education-instruction and examination regulation”.

Candidates who will apply for master program of CEIT department must have the followings:

Bachelor's diploma: Bachelor's degree (The diplomas obtained from abroad must be certified by Council of Higher Education for the equivalence)

Transcript: A document which indicates GPA, the list of courses taken in the bachelor level and course grades.

ALES Score: The candidates who will apply must have taken either ALES, GRE or GMAT exams or equivalence scores from ALES, GRE or GMAT and get required minimum score. (For the equivalence of the different exam scores please check the Hacettepe University Graduate School of Educational Sciences web page.)

ALES Point: 60 (Equal Weight, Numerical)

Foreign Language Exam Document: The candidates who will apply for graduate program must have taken either KPDS/ÃœDS/YDS or any other foreign language exam whose equivalence is ratified by Interuniversity Unit (UAK) of Higher Education Council and get minimum point set by Senate of Hacettepe University.

International Students: International students must meet minimum language point for languages such as English, French and German languages except for their mother language.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for graduation include successfully completing the courses, practices, and the Master's Thesis. In addition, students shouldn't be subject to severance stated in 29th item of Hacettepe University Education Examination Regulation of Associate and Bachelor Degree.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

It is possible to transition from graduate programs in the university or other higher education institutions to the doctoral program of the department. Because of this the necessary conditions are stated in the regulations of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and examination. In addition, studying at a higher education institution under graduate or graduate education or who want to improve their skills by completing a specific subject knowledge and practice may attend the classes as a special student with the approval o the board of directors, the course manager.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

Nowadays, the scope of knowledge and the technological developments rapidly changing and spreading. These facilities, of course, affect the learning-teaching styles until the preparation of instructional materials to the submission and evaluation process, technology, especially computer-based technologies; directed indispensability educators to see knew ways of theory and practice. Teaching /Learning Technologies as a science, started to establish its presence in conjunction with the development of technology. In recent years, Teaching/Learning Technologies became more important with the development of multi-media technologies and web technologies. In addition, Turkey has identified a large target for the implementation of computer and internet-based education in primary and secondary schools. On the other hand, Higher Education Council has one of the most important steps about Internet-based education regulation for universities in this regard. The private sector in education falls into a great investment for content delivery and display such content in computer and internet environments.

Increasing to need the importance for trained man power in the field of Instructional Technology and Distance Education either various countries around the world or Turkey. The Master's program of department aims to the use and development of computer-based technologies in teaching-learning processes, conduct scientific study on distance education, develop products, and train the required manpower.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology master's degree graduates graduated as a "Scientific expert". Graduate scan work of companies which design educational materials and university academic staff. Such as the private sector, they can work in a variety distance education institutions as an e-learning expert. In addition, they can be employed in positions such as assistant specialist or expert in such as the TRT, TUBITAK institutions and organizations. Students, who wish, can continue their education in the same or different department as a doctor.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Master program of Computer Education and Instructional Technology department consists of 2 years (4 semesters). A master's degree programme consisted of courses which are not less than 21 credits, seminar, special topics and master thesis study. Master's degree programme in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) consists of courses which are not less than 60 ECTS credits at total and thesis/art study which is not less than 60 ECTS credits at total. As in the stated in academic calendar, master students can present their thesis/art study proposal not later than end of the second semester. This proposal must be accepted by the academic committee of department. Thesis proposal is finalized by the decision of administrative board of institute. The students who completed the programme courses and don't drop under 2.5 GPA enters master's thesis defense examination, without exceeding the maximum period prescribed for the program. The student, whose thesis is accepted, submits the last form of thesis to the institute after revising with regard to jury proposals and writing rules of institute within one month. Administrative board of institute gives an extension period of three months to the student who asked to review their thesis. During this period, the student revise thesis and define thesis again. At the end of the defense, students whose thesis is not accepted by the jury or students who are rejected after the revision, start their thesis/art study with a new proposal not earlier than three months.

A master's degree programme consisted of courses which are not less than 21 credits, seminar, special topics and master thesis study. Master's degree programme in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) consists of courses which are not less than 60 ECTS credits at total and thesis/art study which is not less than 60 ECTS credits at total. Preparing an acceptable thesis proposal until the second semester and completing the master thesis defence examination successfully are sufficient and essential requirements. In addition, students should not subject to conditions which are specified at Hacettepe University Graduate Education, Instruction and Examination Regulations. Deadlines for completion of a master's degree can be achieved from Hacettepe University and Graduate Education and Examination Regulation.
