D.1. General Information about Program

Institute of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry is founded under Hacettepe University structure complying the bylaw no. 41 issued on 07.20.1982 andgrants MS and PhD degrees complying the law 2547 section 3/f. Clinical Neurological Sciences grants an MS degree without thesis since the 2003-2004 academic year.

Spinal Surgery

These disciplines deal with large amounts of patients, develop fast regarding diagnosis  and treatment, require the utilization of new techniques and interdisciplinary approach. Each of these programs has a corresponding fellowship in other countries. The experienced faculty members of our university are ideal for organizing these fellowship programs that require the interdisciplinary approach.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

Medical Faculty Graduates who are granted for specialist degree in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Pediatric Neurology and Ophthalmology are accepted to this program. Admission terms (quota, enrollment, application terms, education and examination rules) are bound by the Hacettepe University MSc Education and Examination bylaw.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

MSc degree without thesis is composed of lessons with a total of no less than 30 credits and a semester project. According to European Credit Transfer System this program consists of at least 60 credits of lessons and a semester project. Semester project is given in the last semester. Student applies for semester project in the last semester and at the end of the semester presents the project in a written report.

To graduate from the program, the student must succeed in the semester project and must have an academic average of 2.50 over 4.


D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The relevant regulation rules apply to the recognition of the education received by a student who previously studied at a higher education institution in Turkey or abroad;

Academic recognition of the education of these students who studied for a certain period of time in another higher education institution is determined by the decision of the academic board.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

Program Objectives: This program aims to develop clinical, basic and advanced science knowledge and talents. It does not aim to give a subspecialty degree, but to supply development in the academic area of neuroscience for the specialists.

Learning Objectives: This program aims to teach profound knowledge and expertise in the areas of diagnosis, treatment and research for neurological diseases at a higher level compared to the standard specialty training.

The majority of the students who graduated from the program serve as faculty members in public universities, some serve as faculty members in private universities and some of them have scientific positions at universities abroad.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

The program consists of 41 courses including 1 compulsory anc 40 elective ones. During each semester, an applicant must have take courses with a total value of at least 30 credits.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

Master without thesis program with a total of thirty credits and at least ten courses, not less than 60 ECTS. consists of a term project course.
Graduate students without thesis who fulfill the Graduation Requirements of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations are awarded a master's degree without thesis.
