D.1. General Information about Program

Doctorate programme in Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation within the context of the Institute of Health Sciences started in 1967-68 academic year. Graduates who have completed this program, can carry out an original research at the various specialized areas in physiotherapy and rehabilitation independently, can interpret and comment scientific events with a broader and deeper perspective and can determine the necessary steps to achieve new methods and applications. They are expected to carry high-level skills acquired in training and research to their national and international clinical and academic works. PhD graduates of physiotherapy and rehabilitation program acquire a Doctor of Science Degree.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

 To have an undergraduate degree diploma in area of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

For students who have a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy and rehabilitation and do their master's degree in areas close to the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation; To be deemed appropriate by the academic board of the department.

To have ALES (SAY / EA) score type and ALES and Foreign Language base score determined by the Health Sciences Institute Board and approved by the Hacettepe University Senate http://www.saglikbilimleri.hacettepe.edu.tr/en/menu/ales_foreign_language_scores-252

 To meet the application requirements of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations and Institute of Health Sciences.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

 

To complete the programme which is at least 8 half-years and contains 240 ECTS credits successfully or to receive equivalent education abroad for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation doctorate education.

To be fulfilled requirements set out  H.U. Post-Graduate Education-Teaching and Examinations Regulation for PhD qualification program.

To be successful in the qualifying examination and thesis proposal should be approved by the Academic Council of the Department.

To be fulfilled examination and evaluation requirements of Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences Thesis Graduate Education Program, the majority of the jury in the defense of the thesis is required.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

To graduate from graduate programs of Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation or international equivalent degree abroad.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

To educate a doctor of science with the universal qualities of a scientist in training, research and implementation issues in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, who can do top-level application in special fields of physiotherapy and rehabilitation according to the various health needs of the community, who can independently plan and carry out original research, who can offer the newly acquired information for the benefit of science and humanity, who can contribute to national policies in their topic, who is knowledgeable, educated and competent enough in national and international scale.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Alumnies who completes this programme could implement an investigation special to Physiotherapy rehabilitation area independently, comment with a broader and deeper perspective of scientific events and determine the necessary steps to achieve for accessing new methods and applications. He/she could move high-level skills acquired in education and research to his/her national and international clinical and academic works. Alumnies are research assistants, physiotherapists, people working in other areas in need of employees and people providing education for the community. He/she adopts the principle of lifelong learning. Physiotherapy rehabilitation doctor of science graduates are people who can develop programs that create and implement competent and effective programs by determining the need for the subject related to protective purposes in healthy individuals and can develop public health.

 Doctorate program of Physiotherapy Rehabilitation consists of totally 240 ECTS including compulsory and elective courses and thesis. The students can take courses from different programs that appropriates for Physiotherapy rehabilitation program in addition to their program.

D.16. Graduation Requirements
