D.1. General Information about Program

Radiopharmacy Department was established first time in Turkey at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy accordance with Turkish High Education Council's Decision Number: 9589 dated 09.06.1993. Theoretical and practical education are being given at master and Ph.D level since 18.05.1994 and at undergraduate level since 1995.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

The applicants who hold a Bachelor's Degree (graduate from 5 years programme of pharmacy) or Master?s Degree in Radiopharmacy and willing to enroll in the doctorate programme may apply to the Directorate of the Graduate School with the documents (http://www.saglikbilimleri.hacettepe.edu.tr/basvuru_kosullari.html)

1-Sufficient score (at least 60 out of 100) from the Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES) conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) or at least 610 from GRE Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or at least 475 from Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). http://www.saglikbilimleri.hacettepe.edu.tr/en/menu/ales_foreign_language_scores-252

6- Reference letter (2 reference letters in sealed and signed envelopment). These letters will be provided to department, if required.

7- Letter from candidate explained his/her aim and target to apply to doctorate programme (This letter will be provided to department, if required).

8- Foreign student must submit the Turkish translation of all required documents and copy of passport

The candidates fulfilling the criteria outlined above are invited to interview and/or written exam. The assessment for admission to masters programs is based on : 50% of ALES, 20% of academic success in the undergraduate programme (cumulative grade point average (CGPA) ) and 30% of interview and/or written exam grade. The required minimum interview and/or written grade is 60 out of 100. The candidates having an assessed score of 70 at least are accepted into the Doctorate programme. The results of the evaluation are announced by the Directorate of Graduate School.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The programme consists of obligatory and elective courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, and thesis, with a minimum of 21 local credits.  According to European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) at least 120 ECTS credit must be acquired in obligatory and elective courses and  120 ECTS credit  must be acquired in thesis. The total ECTS credits of the programme is 240 ECTS and 1 ECTS is equal to 30 hours workload.

In addition to midterm exams and final exam, semester activities such as reports, assignments, short exams, presentations and project studies can be used as assessment methods. Students having a score of 70(B3) (out of 100) at least are passes the course. Student who failed can retake the course or can take another course with the approval of the advisor. Student can also take the course from other Institutes or Master programmes with the recommendations of advisor or Head of the programme and approval of Institute Administrative Board. A student may take undergraduate courses on the condition that the courses have not been taken during the undergraduate program. However, at most two of these courses may be counted to the Ph.D's course load and credits

The PhD students are required to take the Doctoral Qualifying Examination, after having successfully completed all required course (obligatory and elective course). The examination consists of written and oral parts. The Doctoral Qualifying Committee determines by absolute majority whether a candidate has passed or failed the examination Students who fail the Qualifying Examination may retake the examination the following semester. After passing of the Qualifying Examination, in one month Thesis committee is formed by recommendation of thesis advisor and/or director of the programme and approval of Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The student is submit thesis proposal to the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School in six months following the Qualifying Examination. The student defends the thesis proposal in front of the jury.  A majority vote by the jury members determines the outcome of the thesis or examination. The vote can be for "acceptance", "rejection".

Thesis is non-credit and graded on a pass/fail basis.

A student who has completed work on the thesis within the time period, must write a thesis, using the data collected, according to the specifications of the Graduate School Thesis Writing Guide. The thesis must be defended in front of a jury.  The Master's thesis jury is appointed on the recommendations of the relevant Department Chairperson and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The jury is composed of the thesis supervisor and 3 to 5 faculty members. Of the appointed jury members, one of the jury member must be selected from another University. A majority vote by the jury members determines the outcome of the thesis or examination. The vote can be for "acceptance", "rejection" or "correction". To correct or change a thesis found incomplete and/or inadequate by the jury, the jury must specify in its report that such corrections are necessary. A student may be given, by a decision of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School, up to six months to complete the corrections. The student must retake the thesis examination. Student whose thesis reject by jury or incomplete the correction in given time restart the thesis study by submission of  new thesis proposal within three months.  

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The rules for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. A student who is currently enrolled in a Ph.D's Degree programme in related discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least one semester, upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the Doctorate's Programme at Hacettepe University upon the recommendation of the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The decision taken will also include eligibility for exemption from some course requirements of the graduate program. Students who transfer from another programme must provide all admission requirements and passes ) from each course with at least 70 score (out of100 ).

The Doctorate's program aims to supply advanced level of training in radiopharmacy, having theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out scientific studies and evaluate the results individually.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates who successfully completed The Master's Degree and hold Radiopharmacist title may work at Radiopharmacutical Industry as a mandate manager, product manager, quality control manager; may work as a radiopharmacist at hospital radiopharmacy; may work at government agency such as The Health Ministery, Turkish Drug and Medical Devices Agency, Turkish Atomic Energy Agency, Turkish Public Health Agency or may continue academic carrier at university.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

All course are provided both in autumn and spring semester. For graduation, student must take 120 ECTS credit from courses [56 ECTS out of 120 (47%) must take from obligatory courses and 64 ECTS out of 120 (53%) must take from elective courses] and remaining 120 ECTS will be taken from thesis work. Student can also take the course from other programmes including Radiopharmacy master programme with the recommendations of advisor or Head of the programme and approval of Institute Administrative Board. The course taken from other programme (except from Radiopharmacy master programme) can not be more than 50% of total elective courses' credit. A student may take undergraduate courses on the condition that the courses have not been taken during the undergraduate program. However, at most two of these courses may be counted to the Doctorate's course load and credits. All obligatory and elective course are listed in Course Structure Diagram. Students can take these courses in different semester with the condition of ensure of total credit requirements.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are required to take a mid-term examination and/or complete other assigned projects/homework during the semester and, additionally, are required to take a final examination. Assesment method of each course is described in detail in ?Individual Course Description?. To pass any course, a Master's student must receive at least 70 out of 100.
