D.1. General Information about Program

This program, students have gained on the field of occupational therapy practice science students necessary knowledge, understanding and skills as well as the ability of independent thinking and searching, work in its field to plan, manage, and finalization skills, attitudes and behavior to provide the knowledge and skills to gain the service of society. Trained people who have been specializing in doctorate in the occupational therapy, especially the elderly, the disabled, children working in streets, drug addicts, social roles, such as the independence of disadvantaged individuals, improve quality of life for healthy people to develop and implement preventive measures to raise awareness about this issue and the community have the ability to produce competent for the solution-generating projects and research.

Firstly, Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation -Occupational Therapy Doctorate program depending opened in 1996. Occupational activities were covered by the program unit and after graduation, and many scientists in the scientific study of over 150 theses, and dissertations produced. The Board of Higher Education Law No. 2880 Law No. 2547 of 02.18.2009 pursuant to Article 7/d-2 changes due to Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Occupational Therapy and then this program was continued Institute of the Health Sciences Department of Occupational Therapy.

To be graduated from a department of the near field of the Academic Council will be accepted and fulfill the terms of acceptance in the doctorate program reference of the Hacettepe University, Institute of the Health Sciences

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Doctorate Programme, the student, who was accepted to the program with the master's degree, must complete total at least 240 ECTS; at least 21 credits and 90 ECTS's with at least seven courses, seminar, phd proposal and thesis work courses, except from ?Preparation To Doctoral Proficiency Exam? course, during the Phd study.

Student who successfully completes courses and whose academic average is at least 3.00 can take the proficiency exam. Student, who is successful in the proficiency exam and whose thesis proposal is accepted, prepares the thesis under the supervision of the thesis monitoring committee. Student must write his/her results according to the Institute's thesis writing regulations, and present the thesis orally to the jury. The regulations determined by the Hacettepe University Graduate Education-Examination and Examination Regulations are applied on each stage of the programme

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

A student who is currently enrolled in a Doctorate program upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the courses which included same information another university master's program at Hacettepe University upon the recommendation during the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Institute of the Health Sciences.

This program is covered by rehabilitation and occupational therapy knowledge and skills in the implementation of the science research and education, which may be critical thinking, research methods, knowledge; research synthesis can be done, related to this field of research, projects, and scientific applications that can communicate with the national and international level in terms of society, improve health and quality of life of disadvantaged policies, which may affect the provision of equality of opportunity for people to contribute to evidence-based research and applications can be done, the information obtained can be transferred from the academic field of science to educate doctors.

Graduated student has worked in the hospitals, rehabilitation centers, children with special needs' schools, industrial areas, private institutions, vocational rehabilitation centers and sheltered workplace.

This doctorate program consists of 8 semesters. The program consists of at least 240 ECTS credits, with a minimum of 30 ECTS courses in the first 4 semesters and a total of 120 ECTS credits in the last 4 semesters. Students have to complete compulsory courses in the first two years (four semesters). Required credits are provided from elective courses. Elective courses can be chosen from other doctoral programs within the field.
