D.1. General Information about Program

Back

Health Care Management Program was founded in parallel with the development and evolution of health management all over the world. The program improves the knowledge of management of health services and institutions by educating, training and researching, and it preserves the role of being the first and the leader department in this field in Turkey. The aim of the program is to educate students who can contribute to solve the problems of health care sector, are decision-focused (information systems, planning, marketing, governing board, relations with medical staff, organization relations with its environment, and budgeting), and are practice-focused (coordination and team work abilities, interpersonal relations, following the behaviors and practices of successful health care managers).The language of instruction is Turkish.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

1. It is required to have a master's degree with thesis in health care administration or in other disciplines.

2. Master's Degree GPA must be at least 3.00 over 4.00 (four).

2. Applicants are required to score at least 60 standard points from either one of the quantitative or verbal or equal weight categories of the Academic Staff and Graduate Education Examination (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimine Giriş Sınavı, ALES) organized by Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi, ÖSYM). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score, determined by the Hacettepe University Senate, in the internationally recognized GRE and GMAT examinations.

3. Applicants are required to score at least 60 in the Foreign Knowledge in Foreign Language Placement Examination (Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı, YDS). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score from other foreign language examinations, held at the national or international level, whose equivalence is approved by ÖSYM.

4. International students' applications are accepted in line within “Hacettepe University Graduate Programme and Exam Regulation" in Official Gazette (29 November 2016, No:29900).

5. The students who are admitted to the program might be required to take relevant course/s from the Scientific Preparation Programme, in case deemed to be a necessary by the jury of the oral exam.

6. Those conditions, which are not included, are applied in accordance with the related provisions of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education, Instruction and Examination Regulations (Hacettepe Üniversitesi Lisansüst Eğitim, Öğretim ve Sınav Yönetmeliği).

  1. It is required to have a master's degree with thesis in health care administration or in other disciplines.
  2. Candidates who have a master's degree in disciplines other than Health Institutions Administration, if needed, might take some courses from master program except for compulsory credits.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To complete at least 36 credits successfully and to be successful in the comprehensive exam. To present his/her studies to the thesis study evaluation committe twice a year upon succeding in the comprehensive exam and to get an approval from the committe regarding his/her progress in her study topic.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Graduate programmes may be accepted related university or another institute department in higher technological institute or another institution of higher education graduate program successfully completed at least one semester of student by transfer. Admission requirements to transfer determined with regulations adopted by Senate.

To educate Health Care Management experts who are open to new developments in this area, able to communicate with other health care workers, able to work independently, able to work others in a coordinated manner, have job responsibility, open minded, intellectual, and reliant on ethical issues by providing universal and updated health care management education.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The students graduated from the Program of Health Care Management have an opportunity to be employed at a wide range of service areas; at the hospitals as the first instance, and in various health institutions and organizations at the public and private sector such as rehabilitation centers and relevant departments of social security institutions, private insurance companies, drug and medical devices companies as mid- and high level managers responsible for administrative, financial and technical tasks.

The programme have 4 required, 16 elective courses. Students can get elective courses as from the first semester. There is not any courses that have a prerequisite.
