D.1. General Information about Program

Department of Business was established depending on Faculty of Social and Administrative Sciences as the name of Department of Business in 1974. In 1974 Master- Doctorate and in 1976 Bachelor's Degree programs were started. On 07/20/1982 after the establishment of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business was joined in this Faculty. Department of Business provides degree program (excluding service courses altogether) in English and other programs, completely as Turkish undergraduate, master's degree (Management and Organizational Behaviour, Production/Operation Management and Quantitative Methods, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Tourism Management), post-graduate (MBA, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing) and doctoral programs. There are two computer laboratory in the department with the necessary software and hardware.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

1. Candidates who have received at least one of the undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Department of Business  are accepted.

2. Applicants are required to score at least 70 standard points from equal weight categories of the Academic Staff and Graduate Education Examination (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimine Giriş Sınavı, ALES) organized by Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi, ÖSYM). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score, determined by the Hacettepe University Senate, in the internationally recognized GRE and GMAT examinations.

3. Applicants are required to score at least 75 in the Foreign Knowledge in Foreign Language Placement Examination (Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı, YDS). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score from other foreign language examinations, held at the national or international level, whose equivalence is approved by ÖSYM.

4. International students' applications are accepted in line within ?Hacettepe University Graduate Programme and Exam Regulation" in Official Gazette (29 November 2016, No:29900).

5. Those conditions, which are not included below, are applied in accordance with the related provisions of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education, Instruction and Examination Regulations (Hacettepe Üniversitesi Lisansüst Eğitim, Öğretim ve Sınav Yönetmeliği).

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students who are enrolled in the PhD program must complete 120 ECTS (90 ECTS + 30 ECTS PROFICIENCY EXAM) credits courses, then should pass the scientific proficiency exam and has to prepare a doctorate thesis under the supervision of consultant. The students enrolled in the PhD program must have taken and passed a course which covers the academic research methods and research and publication ethics topics, during their graduate-level education.

Evaluation and assesment methods are explained in Hacettepe University's Graduate Education and Examination Regulations .

MAN719 Research Methods I, MAN703 Organization and Managerial Behavior, MAN713 Finance Theories, MAN707 Strategic Planning and Management, MAN730 Marketing Strategy Management, MAN737 Mathematical Programming and MAN750 Seminar are compulsory courses. The remaining courses are elective.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have attended the courses at another university at home or abroad can be accepted as equivalent within the framework of relavant articles Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The aim of the PhD. program is to provide the students necessary knowledge and skills in the area to conduct independent research, to interpret the scientific findings and facts, to reach new syntheses, to develop universally applicable methodologies and to produce new knowledge.

One of the most important goals of the program is to train professionals and students to work in Turkey and the world's leading businesses and is to provide equivalent level of expertise with the world's leading graduate programs. Another purpose of the programme is to obtain comprehensive training for leaders and managers in leading organizations of rapidly changing business world.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

There are many graduates of the program working as a researcher and academician in universities and institutes.

Also, graduates of the program gaining effective communication skills, a sense of social responsibility, flexiable and innovative characteristics.They take their places as potential managers in public or private companies' departments of finance, production, human resources or marketing.

• The structure of the programme by the years: Students must complete the courses at three semester after they enroll. Fourth semester is a break for students for proficiency exam preparation. Then successful students will start their thesis study.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation and assesment methods for each course are defined in course teaching plan in information package prepared by the lecturers. Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations will be applied in related with the course notes and exams.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

Students who are enrolled in the PhD program must complete 120 ECTS credits courses, then should pass the scientific proficiency exam and has to prepare a doctorate thesis under the supervision of consultant. The students must have published a research paper in a journal, which is indexed by SSCI, SCI, SCI-Expanded, AHCI or ULAKBIM-TR journal lists, during their PhD education before submitting their thesis.

Also they have to get a CGPA of 3.00/4.00 and submit their thesis in order to graduate.
