The history of Wind and Percussion Instrument branches (Flute-Oboe-Clarinet-Bassoon-French Horn-Trumpet-Trombone-Tuba-Percussion Ins.) under the Music Department, dates back to the establishment of Music Teacher's College in 1936 (Musiki Muallim Mektebi). After inclusion into the “Council of Higher Education” in 1982, Ankara State Conservatory was connected to Hacettepe University and these branches gathered together under the name of “Wind and Percussion Instruments Department” and was restructured again. “Master's Degree in Art” and “Efficiency in Art Programs” started to give education in 1996-1997 Academic year.
This program has been acquired by Hacettepe University Fine Arts Institute on Fall 2012 semester.
Wind and Percussion Instruments Department, with its “Bachelor's Degree”, “Master's Degree in Art” and “Efficiency in Art” Programs, educate students to become artists and educators for national and international orchestras and educational institutions, with all sub-disciplines of wind and percussion instruments, by using modern methods and techniques.

To graduate from Wind and Percussion Instruments Department Efficiency in Art Degree, students must achieve minimum 24 national credits and 240 ECTS credits.

The aim of Wind and Percussion Instruments Doctorate in Art Degree is to educate artists and educators for national and international orchestras and educational institutions with musical and technical skills, equipped with information, ability and attitudes to become a successful educationist by making an academic career, internalized art ethics, closely monitoring and contributing to the developments in his/her field, predictive, respectful, participant and a high level of aesthetic appreciation open to innovations and developments.
The fields of study for Doctorate in Art Degree graduates of Wind and Percussion Instruments are summarized as follows;
Working as a performer with appropriate professional qualifications in national and international symphony orchestras, opera orchestras and chamber music groups or making an academic career working as a researcher and faculty member of conservatories and music schools.
