Master degree programs in botany practice education in the fields of Plant Systematics, Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Morphology and Anatomy, Palynology, Paleoecology and Cytogenetic.
In the field of Plant Systematics, various floristic, revision and molecular systematic (phylogenetic systematic) studies are being conducted. The international herbarium with 50000 plant samples, and Hasbahçe, where the geophytes are cultivated, are open to all MSc and PhD students working in this area in order to provide material for their researches.
In the field of Plant Physiology, stress physiology studies are conducted. Especially the changes in plants caused by environmental stress factors (high-low temperature, salt, heavy metals, drought, etc.) are investigated in-vivo and in-vitro, and the responses to these stress factors are examined in terms of morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular aspects. Meanwhile, propagation of these plants, which are of economical and endemic value, are being carried via tissue cultures.
In the Palynology field, studies are conducted on pollen morphology, aeropalynology, melissopalynology, paleopalynology and forensic palynology fields. Palynology laboratory contains the richest pollen reference collection in Turkey, belonging to 500 different plant species. Cytogenetic and cytotoxic studies are also carried out in this programme.
