D.1. General Information about Program

Back

Demands about recognizing and learning the Turkish as a foreign language are gradually increasing from Europe and neighbor countries of Turkey. However this trend is related to transportation and communication technology, it is recognized that rising economic and political power of Turkey and Turkic world are most effective. Demands to learning Turkish from Africa to Siberia and from Australia to Spain and especially from north part of America continent are growing day by day. Education structures which were founded in these regions and rising of Turkish are the reasons of this increase. According to this wide trend it is needed to improve the quality and quantities of the education as parallel to numbers of centers and courses both in foreign countries and Turkey. Unfortunately as other academic problems there is an important deficiency about the methods of teaching Turkish as a foreign language as academically. However Mahmud al-Kashgari wrote a dictionary which is suitable for the terms he lived in, today there is not an effective, developed system. Most importantly, its not founded yet a teaching language knowledge and system for students from different cultures which comprises high technologic phonetics laboratory, based on language levels. Turkish academy could not exceed the line which is recognized and inured previously and the power of Turkey and its rising effects went forward then the academic studies. To success that its need to found the groundwork and make the academic studies which is required in the field of teaching Turkish. True methodological approach, investigation, comparison and experiment are the instruments to form academic knowledge. It is need to encourage the philologists to attend on MA and PhD programs to formulate new methods and approaches to teaching Turkish. It should be used the teaching methods of English, French or German which were developed as academic knowledge and recognized for almost 200 years. It is necessary to people well educated in field of teaching Turkish to create and use original knowledge in Turkish and Foreign Language Teaching Research and Application Center (TOMER). For all these academic needs have to be completed in PhD programs about Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language.
