D.1. General Information about Program

“Health Education” MSc Program, as one of the degree programs of Hacettepe University, Institute of Health Sciences, was conducted since 1976. In 2016, the Program was started to be offered as the “Health Education MSc Program”.

Health Education MSc Program offers courses within the scope of health and educational sciences for the graduates of health, social, and educational science related faculties in accordance with the program objectives.

After graduation, candidates have the opportunity to apply to the PhD program. International students also have the opportunity to apply for the MSc Program.

The duration of the MSc Program is two years (four semesters). The first year (two semesters) consists of required and elective courses, whereas the second year consists of the thesis work. The medium of instruction is Turkish.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

 The Program accepts graduates of health, science, social, and educational science related faculties.

The student candidates need to fulfill the requirements specified in the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Postgraduate Studies and Examinations.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to qualify for the Health Education MSc Degree, the students need to earn at least 120 ECTS/ 21 national credits, and to complete a thesis work.

During the course period, the students need to successfully complete courses to earn at least 21 national credits (60 ECTS). At the end of the second semester, the students, who fulfill these criteria with an average academic score of at least 2.75, are allowed to submit their thesis proposal.

After completion of the thesis work, the candidate defends his/her thesis before a jury, and complete the MSc Program if he/she is successful in knowledge, interpretation, and synthesis parts of the thesis defence. In the thesis period (two semesters), the student earns 60 ECTS.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

 Students are allowed for lateral transfer, and credit transfer between programs according to the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The general aim of the Health Education MSc Program, is to provide program graduates with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively develop and implement health education and health promotion programs, and to conduct research in this area.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

 Graduates of this Program have the opportunity to work in different departments of the Ministry of Health and affiliated institutions (e.g. Public Health Institution of Turkey), as well as the provincial public health directorates, community health centers (TSM), directorates of health affairs in the municipalities, international organizations, private sector, and non-governmental organizations.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

 The duration of this MSc Program is 4 semesters. The Program consists of at least 120 ECTS credits (21 national credits), composed of two semesters of course work (30 ECTS credits per semester), and two semesters of thesis work (30 ECTS credits per semester).

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

 Evaluation and assessment methods for each course are described in the course info packs prepared by each instructor. For the examinations and pass grades, respective articles of the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations shall be applied.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

 To successfully complete the ?Health Education? MSc Program, the students need to need to take required and elective courses of the program to earn at least 21 national credits, write a thesis within the scope of the program topics, and defend their thesis successfully to earn at least 120 ECTS credits. The students are subject to the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Postgraduate Studies and Examinations.
