D.1. General Information about Program

 Health Policy and Administration MSc Program, as one of the degree programs of the Public Health Department at the Institute of Public Health, aims to provide program graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills in health administration concepts and practices, to involve them in studies to improve the health status and the quality of life in the community, and to contribute to the development of health administration field in Turkey.

After graduation, candidates have the opportunity to apply to the PhD program. Foreign students also have the opportunity to apply for the MSc Program.

The duration of the MSc Program is two years (four semesters). The first year (two semesters) consists of required and elective courses, whereas the second year consists of the thesis work. The medium of instruction is Turkish.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

 The Program accepts graduates of medicine, public health, administration and health administration programs of related faculties.

The student candidates need to fulfill the requirements specified in the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Postgraduate Studies and Examinations.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

 In order to qualify for the MSc Degree in Health Administration, the students need to earn at least 21 national credits (120 ECTS), and to successfully complete a thesis work.

During the course period, the students need to successfully complete courses (including the seminar course without any national credits) to earn at least 21 national credits (60 ECTS). At the end of the second semester, the students, who fulfill these criteria with an average academic score of at least 2.75, are allowed to submit their thesis proposal.

After completion of the thesis work, the candidate defends his/her thesis before a jury, and complete the MSc Program if he/she is successful in knowledge, interpretation, and synthesis parts of the thesis defence. In the thesis period (two semesters), the student earns 60 ECTS.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

 Students are allowed for lateral transfer, and credit transfer between programs according to the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

 The general aim of the program is to provide graduates of medicine, public health, and health administration related faculties, with the essential knowledge on health administration and skills to conduct research in this field.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

 Graduates of this Program have the opportunity to work in central and peripheral units of the Ministry of Health and affiliated institutions, as well as health administration related departments of academic institutions, private sector, and non-governmental organizations.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

 The students need to complete the required courses in the first two semesters. In this period, students need to earn at least 21 national credits (60 ECTS) by taking required and elective courses. Depending upon the advisor?s suggestion and the student?s approval, the student may take elective courses from programs other than public health. The prerequsites (if any) for elective courses are written in the course info packs. Upon approval by the advisor, students, who complete their required courses, may take elective courses related to their interests and/or thesis topic.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

 Evaluation and assessment methods for each course are described in the course info packs prepared by each instructor. For the examinations and pass grades, respective articles of the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations shall be applied.
