D.1. General Information about Program

The Institute of Child Health and Diseases through the instrument of the Hacettepe Faculty of Health Science, have begun the studies about the family health and put into practice the educational programs of PhD and master of scirma ence degrees on this issue. In 1980-1981 the Institute programmed the educational activities individually differently from the Faculty of Science Health, gave the education of master of science on the branch of Immunology. Today this practice is performed in the context of sub-specialty affiliated with the Ministry of Health. Since 1982 in accordance with the law numbered 2547 of the Higher Education Institute, and associated instructions, the education of postgraduate and PhD programs have begun. The language of education is Turkish. The programme have also laboratory practices.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

 In order to graduate from the immunology doctorate program,the student, who was accepted to the program with the master's degree, must complete total at least 240 ECTS; at least 21 credits and 90 ECTS's with at least seven courses, seminar, phd proposal and thesis work courses, except from Preparation To Doctoral Proficiency Exam course, during the Phd study.

Student who successfully completes courses and whose academic average is at least 3.00 can take the proficiency exam. Student, who is successful in the proficiency exam and whose thesis proposal is accepted, prepares the thesis under the supervision of the thesis monitoring committee. Student must write his/her results according to the Institute's thesis writing regulations, and present the thesis orally to the jury. The regulations determined by the Hacettepe University Graduate Education-Examination and Examination Regulations are applied on each stage of the programme

Transfer of certain prior courses is only possible following the the statements in the "Hacettepe University Regulations on Graduate Education and Examination", published in Official Journal number 28476 on 23rd November 2012. Consent of the mentor and the academic staff is required accordingly.

Education and research in the field of immunology has reached the universal level, the nature of the scientist, immunology plan and perform an investigation on the information obtained can share publishing immunology physician is to educate science.

Immunology, PhD graduates genarally continue their academic career in national or international programmes and work as a faculty member. Additionally; they can work in; government, charitable foundation and private entities as an expert, adviser or senior manager.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Doctorate program on basic immunology covers at least 8 semesters in 4 academic years. Students should perform activites of 30 ECTS in each semester.


 The program consists of at least 240 ECTS credits, with a minimum of 30 ECTS courses in the first 4 semesters and a total of 120 ECTS credits in the last 4 semesters. Students have to complete compulsory courses in the first two years (four semesters). Required credits are provided from elective courses. Students who have completed at least 120 ECTS credits can take additional elective courses with the approval of their advisor.

Students should achieve must/elective courses in the first two years. When they successfully complete this lecture stage, they required to be successful in the doctoral proficiency exam and complete/defence a thesis project succesfully at the end of fourth year.  Students need to complete 21 credit (240 ECTS credits) for graduation.
