D.1. General Information about Program

Department of Statistics was founded in 1967 as the first Statistics undergraduate program in Turkey. Doctorate program launched at the same year. Department of Statistics coordinates teaching and research in statistical science. The primary aim of program is to educate well qualified individuals on statistics. Education language is Turkish.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To complete the Ph.D program, students must earn minimum of 240 ECTS credits to get a Ph.D degree according to Hacettepe University Regulations on Education and Examination in Science.

90 ECTS of total credits must be course credits, 30 ECTS must be earned from Preraration to Doctoral Profieciency and 120 ECTS from the thesis.

The primary aim of program is to educate the well qualified statisticians having the ability of analytical thinking and ability of solve complex problems on various study area of statistics.

Graduates have the opportunity to work both public and private sector. For instance: TUIK, TUBITAK, Banking Sector, Research companies...

95% of all courses are elective courses, and students do not need to take out-of-department courses.

The evaluation and grading of each course is defined for each courses in the course details. Grading is applied through the rules given in “Hacettepe University Regulations on Graduate Education and Examination” documentations.
