D.1. General Information about Program

Back

Research on environmental science and engineering began in 1990 with the establishment of the Environmental Research and Application Center at Hacettepe University. In 1993, a graduate program was developed with the establishment of Department of Environmental Science under the auspices of Institute of Science offering Master's of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. This is a sustainability-oriented program ensuring diversity in various topical areas of environmental engineering and science and offering courses that place emphasis on different subfields to balance educational materials from different subfields in the program.

Department of Environmental Engineering has an Advanced Research Laboratory with necessary equipment for research and technology development. The language of the program is Turkish. But to improve English speaking, reading, and writing skills of the students; textbooks, literature and other supplementary materials in English are used as course materials.
