D.1. General Information about Program

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration was founded in 1982 under the name of Public Administration and started education in 1983. Master's program started in 1986 and it serves under the Social Sciences Institute. Program language is Turkish.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

1. Applicants who apply to the program must have completed a four-year Bachelor's Degree.

2. Applicants are required to score at least 55 standard points from equal weight categories of the Academic Staff and Graduate Education Examination (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimine Giriş Sınavı, ALES) organized by Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi, ÖSYM). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score, determined by the Hacettepe University Senate, in the internationally recognized GRE and GMAT examinations.

3. Applicants are required to score at least 60 in the Foreign Knowledge in Foreign Language Placement Examination (Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı, YDS). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score from other foreign language examinations, held at the national or international level, whose equivalence is approved by ÖSYM.

4. International students' applications are accepted in line within “Hacettepe University Graduate Programme and Exam Regulation" in Official Gazette (29 November 2016, No:29900).

5. With the suggestion of the graduate admission committee of the department, the applicants may be required to attend one-year preparatory program or take some courses from bachelor's, preparatory or graduate programs.

6. Those conditions, which are not included, are applied in accordance with the related provisions of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education, Instruction and Examination Regulations (Hacettepe Üniversitesi Lisansüst Eğitim, Öğretim ve Sınav Yönetmeliği).

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To graduate from the program, students must complete 9 courses (27 national credits / 60 ECTS), and complete the thesis (60 ECTS). In addition to this, students should meet the other conditions specified in the Hacettepe University Regulation on Graduate Training, Education, and Examination.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Students should have a 4-year university education in order to apply for the program. Department recognizes the previously taken courses in another institution and exempts them from graduation credit, if they meet the standards specified in the Hacettepe University Regulation on Graduate Training, Education, and Examination.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The aim of the programme is to provide student with the required knowledge and skill in the field in order to conduct scientific research independently or a member of a team, to reach and analyze data. In addition to this, the programme aims to provide the student with skills of leadership and problem solving in the field of specialization.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

They can work as specialists, district governors, inspectors, administrative judges, and managers, academicians, etc.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

There are 5 compulsory and 4 elective courses in the program. Therefore, 44.4 % of courses is elective.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

These conditions are specified in the Hacettepe University Regulation on Graduate Training, Education, and Examination. Courses are theoretical, one-semester courses, and there are no prerequisites.

In order to graduate, students must complete 5 compulsory and 4 elective courses (27 national credits / 60 ECTS), and complete the thesis (60 ECTS).
