D.1. General Information about Program

Fundamentals of the Department of Audiology have been taken depending on the master program of Audiology in Faculty of Postgraduate Education Hacettepe University in 1968. Since 1989 the master program of Audiology had revised and has continued its education programs as ?Audiology and Speech Disorders?. Department of Audiology established in May 11th 2011 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences. 

Graduates from our programme, they can conduct objective and subjective tests, diagnose the patients and evluate the patients regarding amplification procedures. After the test results, graduate can decide which eletrophysioloical tests  (ABR, ASSR, OAE )are suitable for diagnostic procedures. Also the gaduate can perform the vestibular test battery and decide and plan vestibular rehabilitation programme. Graduate also, can decide and plan amplification porcedures depending on candidate selection procedures and intraoperative monitorization (hearing aid fitting procedures, cochlear, BAHA and brainstem implant procedures ) . Besides  on audiological procedures, our graduates can evaluate and diagnose the patients with speech and language disorders. All graduates can take their professional role in health system and also they can go on developing their academic skills. After graduation, they can get the ?Doctorate? degree.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

To register to Audiology and Speech Pathology doctorate programme, candidates should have Master?s Degree from Audiology and Speech Pathology Programme and  Master?s Degree from Educational Audiology.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To have successfully completed at least 8 semesters, 240 ECTS for Audiology and Speech Disorders doctorate education or to have received an equivalent education abroad. H.Ü. Fulfilling the conditions stipulated for the doctorate qualification program in the Postgraduate Education and Examination Regulation. Success in the proficiency exam and approval of the thesis proposal by the Academic Board of the Department. Fulfilling the conditions of Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Postgraduate Study Program Thesis Examination and Evaluation, the majority of the jury is required in the defense of the thesis.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Master?s Degree from Audiology and Speech Pathology Programme and from Educational Audiology  Programme or equivalent degree  from  international programmes.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

To determinate, prevent and treat movement and functional disorders, and to gain enough audiology and speech pathology knowledge, ability and skills to increase the health related quality of life; to oversee public goodness; to bring up graduates who have ability to research, investigate and lifelong learning skills with evidence based practices. All graduates take a career role as a health professional life and work academically after graduation according to their expectancy.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Our graduation students could be work as an audiologist/speech-language pathogists in hospitals, companies, ENT centers, education centers etc. Also after graduation in higher studies, they could work as in research position in universities.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

This doctorate program consists of 8 semesters. The program consists of a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, with a minimum of 30 ECTS courses in the first 4 semesters and a total of 120 ECTS credits in the last 4 semesters. Students have to complete the compulsory courses in the first two years (four semesters). Required credits are provided from elective courses. Students can also take courses from other programs that are not included in the program in order to contribute to their interests and thesis studies. Students who have completed at least 120 ECTS credits can take additional elective courses with the approval of their advisor.
