The Opera Department Master Degree Programme of Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory started in 1998 and was incorporated in the Institute of Fine Arts in fall 2012.
The aim of this programme is to educate opera artists, instructors and academics who are able to work on opera stages and educative institution and have advanced knowledge and skills in the field of acting techniques and music.

For graduation from the Opera Master Degree Programme students must obtain 21 national credits and a total of 120 ACTS. Students have to pass courses and thesis exam successfully in order to graduate from the Opera Master Degree Programme.
Students with licence degree of a State Conservatory Opera Department or equivalent institution may apply for admission to the Opera Department Master Degree Programme. Admission is given after passing a special entrance exam.

The Opera Department aims to educate opera artists who are able to work on opera stages, educational institutions. Graduates are equipped with advanced voice and acting techniques, knowledge and skills in music and are educated in arts, culture and aesthetics. They are open minded towards new developments and changes and are willing to contribute and participate actively to society.
Graduates may work at state and private opera stages, choirs and educational music institutions which do not require pedagogical formation, give solo or ensemble concerts and recitals and make auditory and/or auditory-visual media recordings.
Examples: State Opera and Ballet Houses, Polyphonic State Choir of the Ministry of Culture, TRT Polyphonic Choir, State Conservatories.

The Master Degree Programme comprises two years (four semesters). The first two semesters are course semesters; the last two semesters are thesis semesters. According to Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Opera Department regulations students are obliged to give a graduation recital open to public.
Courses are opened on demand and on semester base. During the first two semesters student make advanced level field studies. During the last two semesters students concentrate on thesis (course name: “specific topics”) and the preparation of the exam recital programme.

The ratio of mandatory courses' and elective courses' total of 120 ECTS is 86 to 34. Students must obtain a minimum 21 national credits.
1 ECTS is equivalent to a student workload of 30.

Beside graduation requirements give above students must obtain must collect at least 24 National Credits and a total of 120 ECTS. Students who fulfil all requirements of courses, thesis and final recital exam open to public are admitted for graduation of the Opera Department Master Degree Programme.
