D.1. General Information about Program

The Department of Public Health (Institute of Health Sciences) is in charge of Master's Degree (non-thesis) program on Public Health. With this program, it is aimed to develop health manpower who has public health knowledge and skills. This health manpower will take roles to improve the health planning and coordination of primary health care services for a region/locality.

The program was planned to meet the physician demand of the community health centers and the scope of the program is arranged with this purpose.

Eligible candidates can apply according to the quota opened. Similarly, international students can also apply to MSc program.

 MSc Degree Program in Public Health is administratively carried out by Institute of Health Sciences.

 The graduate program is composed of three semesters. Must and elective courses are taken in the first two semesters. In the third semester of the program a Term Project should be conducted. The language of instruction is Turkish.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

 Medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists and persons with a university degree from a health related faculty are accepted to this program. Also, graduates of science and social science faculties can also apply for this program after the approval of Academic Board of the Public Health Department.

 The candidates should meet the criteria set by the By Law of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Master without thesis program with a total of thirty credits and at least ten courses, not less than 60 ECTS. consists of a term project course.
Graduate students without thesis who fulfill the Graduation Requirements of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations are awarded a master's degree without thesis.

Students who prepare a term project with the support of their advisor are considered to have successfully completed the non-thesis master's program if they are successful in the Term Project Course.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

 Students are allowed for lateral transfer, and credit transfer between programs according to the By Law of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The aim of the program is to train health manpower who is rigged with public health knowledge and skills for the services related to promotion and prevention of health, and health services.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

 People who have graduated from the non thesis Master's Degree Program in Public Health can find a position at the central and provincial level of the Ministry of Health and its affiliates. Also job opportunities are available in private corporations and non-governmental organizations related to the field of public health departments.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

The non-thesis master's program consists of a total of thirty credits and a term project course with at least ten courses, not less than 60 ECTS. The non-thesis graduate student who fulfills the Graduation Requirements of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations is awarded a master's diploma without thesis.

They may take courses from other programs which are not included in the list of the MsC program. The student can take elective courses for the preliminary work of term project with recommendation of consultant after completion of required courses .Elective courses from the other programs of the Institute of Public Health, or other institutes  can be selected.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

 Evaluation and assessment methods for each course are described in the course info packs prepared by each instructor. For the examinations and pass grades, respective articles of the ByLaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations shall be applied.
