Course objective | The aim of the course is to evalauate the definition, scope and historical development of discourse analysis with reference to its fundamental terminology and concepts. Moreover, this course aims to introduce various discursive features of sign languages. | |||||

Course Content | The course covers lectures and discussions on the definiton, scope and historical development of the field of discourse analysis with reference to fundamental concepts and topics such as form-function, sentence-utterance, product-procedure, context-cotext, coherence, cohesion, intertextuality, speech acts, conversation analysis, discourse and society, discourse and language teaching, discourse and ideology, etc. Mporeover, the above mentioned concepts and topics are also considered in the context of sign languages. | |||||
