Course objectiveThis course aims to introduce the students to artistic applications from the early Turkish art to today; the comparison of them with western art. Through the prism of modern art theories the course will concentrate on Central Asia, Seljuk and Ottoman architecture and other plastic arts; the comparison of artifacts of sculpture, paintings, architecture in the 20th century Turkey and Turkish republics; the influence of Turkish culture to modern Turkish art theories. 
Learning outcomes

  2. -Become acquainted with artistic applications from the early Turkish art to today and their comparison to modern art theories
  3. -Analyze through the prism of modern art, Central Asia, Seljuk and Ottoman architecture and other plastic arts.
  4. -Familiarize the students with the comparison of artifacts of sculpture, paintings, architecture in the 20th century Turkey and Turkish republics
  5. -Discuss the influence of Turkish culture to modern Turkish art theories.
