Course objectiveTo make classifications and analysis on the stages of the transition from traditional to modern structure in cultural revolutions To make comparisons between the modernization process of Turkey and other modernization processes of Russia, Balkans and China in the 20th century. -To make comparative interpretations in the process from one-party period to democracy, To make analysis in the third world countries regarding their democratic developments To make comparisons for the developing countries in terms of their democratic developments by regarding any reactions and threats. 
Learning outcomes
  1. Learn qualitative and quantitative applications in educational context for modern world perception,
  2. Analyze the cultural revolutions and the introduction of modern law to Turkish society and the change it caused in the Turkish society and its culture in the modern society in which these law norms took place and in the period they were applied.
  3. Scrutinize the linguistic revolution that has a dramatic impact on societies in the modern world,
  4. Compare one-party system with the similar ones in the world,
  5. Compare Turkish democratic experience with the similar ones in the world,
  6. Compare threats and reactions towards democratic developments with the similar ones in the world
Course ContentIn the base of science, culture, equality and democracy; the culture policy of Turkish Republic,
The stratification and mobility in the changing Turkish Society,
The presentation of the changes in Turkish society and culture in a historical period of time caused by Ataturk?s system of thought,
The transitional process from one-party system to democracy and world?s conjuncture,
Organized opposition in democracies and Turkey,
The social and economical transformation brought by multi-party system,
The political and militarist reactions against multi-party system,
The capital and multi-party system,
Immigration, urbanization, social changes and democracy,
The ethnic and cultural problems in Turkey.
