Course objectiveIntroducing and teaching basic indicators used in health sciences. Students are made capable of comparing such indicators in national and international basis. Course is carried out in an interactive manner. Obtaining, interpreting and etc. of the statistics concerning recognition of service area are studied by utilizing information taken from hospital and other sources. 
Learning outcomes
  1. Students; will acquire basic knowledge that is beneficial in guiding a health region or institution
  2. learn how to calculate required statistics for health indicators of countries or specific regions,
  3. will acquire the research knowledge sufficient to carry out basic studies in the field of health.
Course Content1. Identifying the health region,
2. demographic statistics (birth, death, migration),
3. population pyramids, population estimation methods,
4. life table method.
5. Morbidity statistics,
6. standardization of rates and proportions,
7. statistics of health services,
8. international classification of deaths and diseases,
9. health records, health indicators,
10. basic research types in health
11. measures of risk
