Course objective1. The concepts and theories of the foreign policy and the basic principles and theoretical frameworks of the Turkish Foreign Policy are thought. 2. Analysis the late Ottoman Foreign Policy which has been changed since 1774 and its reflections are made. 3. The policy which Turkey implemented during the Second World War and how Turkish foreign policy were created during the Cold War and post-Cold War period, during this period, relations of Turkey with regional and global actors are studied.  
Learning outcomes
  1. 1. Understands the concepts and theories of foreign policy, knows and explains the basic motives effecting the formulation of foreign policies.
  2. 2. Comprehends and knows the changes that occur in foreign policy and the foreign policies applied from Empire to Republic.
  3. 3. Knows and explains on theoretical framework of Turkish foreign policy and its basic principles.Knows and understands the foreign policy principle of "Peace at home peace in the world" and alliances formed in line with this policy.
  4. 4. Evaluates problems and sustained relations with neighboring and other countries, by comparing them with contemporary politics.
  5. 5. By considering global and regional changes, evaluates and makes inferences about changing policies and from establishment of the Republic to today.
  6. 6. Understands what cold war means andhow this situation affected the balance of the world powers; the developments occured after the cold war, the impact and implications of these developments for Turkey and Turkish foreign policy, and makes inferences for today.
  7. 7. Knows the alliances that Turkey joined considers social, cultural and economic relations and evaluates the relations with surrounding and Western countries.
Course ContentThe basic principles of Turkish foreign policy, the aims and the concepts related to foreign policy are introduced. Turkish foreign policy that was identified from the beginning of 20. Century to today is examined in the context of changes and developments. In this context, starting with the principle of `Peace at home peace in the world" and continuing today with the principle of foreign policy of "zero problems with neighbors" are evaluated. During the implementation of this principle, the events that arise for or against Turkey are examined. International treaties and the political conventions signed by Turkey, and the alliances that Turkey joined are discussed.
