Course objectiveUnderstanding the political, economic, cultural and social change of the late Ottoman period and their changing and continuing aspects through the Republican era Teaching that continuity and change go hand in hand in history. 
Learning outcomes
  1. 1- Analyses of the facts regarding history of Turkish Republic and Turkish Modernization within the framework of the past, today and future.
  2. 2- Gains historical knowledge of different societies, cultures and civilizations by learning the possible effects of politics on the society and individuals.
  3. 3- Becomes acquainted with the main studies on History and Humanities, writes essays and presents papers.
  4. 4- Gains an interrogative and critical aspect, ethically presents the facts and thoughts, and gains auto criticism.
Course ContentTheoretically analyzes the concepts of continuity and change and studies the continuity and change that took place in history. It is detected whether the political, economic, cultural and popular reforms in the late Ottoman period affected the Republican reforms. In other words, those institutions and customs, transferred or un transferred from a collapsing empire to a newly established republic are to be detected.
